Just to clear up a few things that I have already seen being said:
The stoppage was correct, McGregor was done.
McGregor didn’t “almost have him” in the first few rounds. That’s how Mayweather fights.
McGregor was fading in round 5. That’s when it was already over.
McGregor was only going to win on chance. That’s not sport. That’s roulette.
Don’t get me wrong, McGregor actually did better and gave more than I expected, however, don’t attribute more to the fight than it was, it’s a disservice to the fighters to pretend that that was anything other than Mayweather doing what he does best, and McGregor yet again choosing a fight he couldn’t win.
Would McGregor have beaten Floyd in an MMA fight? Certainly. That’s what happens when you take on a champion in their own sport.

I think he needs to choose a for real gladiator with actual for real swords as his next bout. Just seems to be the trend with him.

Coworker: what did you think about the fight? I think the ref stopped it early. He almost had him!

Me: Would you challenge the best sushi chef in the world to a sushi-making competition in the near future and expect to win?

He did better than many expected but come on, he wasn’t going to win.

Switching between left and right was a clever trick because Mayweather always spends the first few rounds studying his opponent but it’s best to be good and not need tricks.
