It’s completely ridiculous that Zuckerberg is touting all the efforts Facebook is making in eradicating “fake news”, but somehow they still can’t do anything at all about millions of fake accounts! I’m constantly getting friend requests from profiles that are OBVIOUS fakes and I’m getting tired of it!
They’re either hijacked photos from someone I’m already friends with, or some chick in a bikini that just created her account the same same day. I report them and block them. Most of the time Facebook replies saying they looked at the profile and it met their “Community Standards” and they took no action. Total bullshit!
So, it’s perfectly OK for fake accounts to friend people in an attempt to commit fraud, identity theft, or whatever against them, but it’s not OK for profiles to post fake news — most of which is easily refutable by anyone who actually has a brain and takes to the time to google it?
Maybe Zuckerberg should spend less time worrying about how he’s going to use Facebook to further his political career by supposedly taking care of the fake news problem, and spend more time fixing the REAL problems with Facebook!? How about adding a feature where people can verify their identity and show that on their profile? Then, allow people to only receive friend request only from verified profiles?
Of course this will never happen because, sadly, Zuckerberg is more concerned about his run for POTUS than anything else. Not to mention that eradicating fake accounts would do serious damage to Facebook’s advertising revenue on business pages. I guess I’ll just have to keep reporting and blocking.
smh

It would be such an easy problem to solve. But, they don’t want to because fake accounts benefit them.
